Peroxiredoxin-6 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PRDX6 gene. It is a member of the peroxiredoxin family of antioxidant enzymes. Peroxiredoxin 6 is widely distributed in several organs, especially the lungs. The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the thiol-specific antioxidant protein family. This protein is a bifunctional enzyme with two distinct active sites. It is involved in redox regulation of the cell; it can reduce H(2)O(2) and short chain organic, fatty acid, and phospholipid hydroperoxides. It may play a role in the regulation of phospholipid turnover as well as in protection against oxidative injury.

Western blot analysis of Peroxiredoxin 6 on different lysates with Mouse anti-Peroxiredoxin 6 antibody (HA601301) at 1/1,000 dilution.
Lane 1: HeLa cell lysate (20 µg/Lane)
Lane 2: K-562 cell lysate (20 µg/Lane)
Lane 3: Mouse lung tissue lysate (40 µg/Lane)
Lane 4: Mouse liver tissue lysate (40 µg/Lane)
Lane 5: Rat lung tissue lysate (40 µg/Lane)
Lane 6: Rat liver tissue lysate (40 µg/Lane)
Predicted band size: 25 kDa
Observed band size: 27 kDa
Exposure time: 2 seconds; ECL: K1801;
4-20% SDS-PAGE gel.
Proteins were transferred to a PVDF membrane and blocked with 5% NFDM/TBST for 1 hour at room temperature. The primary antibody (HA601301) at 1/1,000 dilution was used in 5% NFDM/TBST at 4℃ overnight. Goat Anti-Mouse IgG - HRP Secondary Antibody (HA1006) at 1/50,000 dilution was used for 1 hour at room temperature. -
