Troponin T type 2 (cardiac), also known as TNNT2, is the tropomyosin-binding subunit of the troponin complex, which is located on the thin filament of striated muscles and regulates muscle contraction in response to alterations in intracellular calcium ion concentration. Mutations of this gene may be associated with mild or absent hypertrophy and predominant restrictive disease, with a high risk of sudden cardiac death.

Heart. The fetal heart shows a greater expression in the atrium than in the ventricle, while the adult heart shows a greater expression in the ventricle than in the atrium. Isoform 6 predominates in normal adult heart. Isoforms 1, 7 and 8 are expressed in fetal heart. Isoform 7 is also expressed in failing adult heart.

Western blot analysis of Cardiac Troponin T on different lysates with Rabbit anti-Cardiac Troponin T antibody (ER21102) at 1/1,000 dilution.
Lane 1: Mouse heart tissue lysate
Lane 2: Rat heart tissue lysate
Lysates/proteins at 30 µg/Lane.
Predicted band size: 36 kDa
Observed band size: 36 kDa
Exposure time: 3 minutes;
4-20% SDS-PAGE gel.
Proteins were transferred to a PVDF membrane and blocked with 5% NFDM/TBST for 1 hour at room temperature. The primary antibody (ER21102) at 1/1,000 dilution was used in 5% NFDM/TBST at room temperature for 2 hours. Goat Anti-Rabbit IgG - HRP Secondary Antibody (HA1001) at 1:200,000 dilution was used for 1 hour at room temperature. -
Immunohistochemical analysis of paraffin-embedded mouse heart tissue using anti-TNNT2 antibody. Counter stained with hematoxylin.
